Graduates of SLU head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the health care services industry, clinical care, and the financial services industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. Among SLU grads, the health care industry is a commonly chosen career field. On the other end of the spectrum is the pharmacy benefits management industry, which attracts less than two percent of SLU alumni. SLU graduates see an average starting salary of $62K.


The biggest paychecks among SLU alumni are earned by Senior Web Developers — these former students make a median salary of about $109K per year. The next biggest paychecks go to Finance Managers (approximately $89K) and Service Delivery Managers ($82K). Collecting the smallest paychecks are Senior Accountants — they bring in around $67K.


St. Louis, Mo. is filled with SLU grads. SLU grads also flock to Atlanta, Ga., which is home to salaries significantly above average (median pay is $91K). On the flipside, the lowest-paying city popular among SLU grads is Chesterfield, Mo. (median compensation is $44K). Chicago, Ill. is also a common pick among SLU grads, along with Tampa, Fla.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of approximately $182K per year, former Billikens who have a medical degree are the best paid among the alumni population. Graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Business & Marketing fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of $44K.


SLU alumni are often well versed in Microsoft Excel, with about one in eight grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Former Billikens with Orthopedics experience garner salaries that are 29 percent more than other grads' salaries. Project Management, Financial Analysis, and Microsoft Office are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only about two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and one in four survey participants receive sick leave. Health insurance benefits extend to most former students, and a fair number of alumni sign up for dental plans. A large number of alums save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Other benefits that Saint Louis University alumni receive are life insurance, tuition reimbursement, a casual working environment, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
