Industry

SLU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include clinical care, the financial services industry, and higher education. The health care industry is the sector most highly represented among alumni. On the other end of the spectrum is the manufacturing industry, which attracts less than two percent of SLU alumni. Starting salaries of $62K are common among SLU grads.

Jobs

The biggest paychecks among SLU alumni are earned by Physician Assistants — these former students make about $85K per year. The next biggest paychecks go to Senior Accountants (around $68K) and Senior Internal Auditors ($67K). Salaries are anything but generous for Senior Financial Analysts, where earnings rank lowest on the pay scale at $58K.

Locations

Many SLU grads end up living in St. Louis, deeming it the most popular city for former students of this school. In addition, former SLU students often head to Atlanta after graduating, where typical salaries come to approximately $88K in this top-paying city. Tampa is a popular spot for former SLU students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at $50K. Other popular cities include Chicago and Dallas.

Employers

Rolling in at around $53K, Express Scripts Incorporated offers the highest salaries to former students of SLU. Saint Louis University (SLU) hands out the smallest paychecks, where median earnings come out to $43K.

Degree Major

A graduate with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Finance from SLU can rake in a whopping $120K per year, more than any other degree from this school. The degree that warrants the lowest level of financial compensation is a Bachelor of Science in Business & Marketing ($41K annually).

Skills

Knowledge of SQL seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 24 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($77K). Microsoft Excel is a common skill among SLU alumni — around a tenth of grads mention using it at work. Proficiency in Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Financial Analysis command top-of-the-line rewards as well.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only two-fifths of alumni are paid for vacation and just one in four survey participants for sick time. The greater part of alumni set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; a strong majority of former students are rewarded with health insurance and a fair portion of former students report dental coverage, too. Graduates of Saint Louis University are also recipients of life insurance, tuition reimbursement, a casual working environment, and a company-subsidized cell phone.

Related Schools

Alumni of Loyola University pick up average paychecks of approximately $61K, which is closest to the amount made by SLU grads among similar schools. Howard University, Catholic University of America, and the University of Denver are also similar to SLU.
