Professionally, clinical care, the health care services industry, and the financial services industry are popular business areas among SLU alumni. A large chunk of former SLU students are employed in the health care industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. Less than two percent of SLU grads move into higher education — it is the road least traveled for this demographic. Graduates of SLU earn around $62K on average.

SLU grads who become Internal Medicine Physicians are compensated well above average — these folks are top-earners among their graduating class, making an average $182K yearly. Also notably well-paid are Senior Human Resources Managers and Orthopedic Physician Assistants; their salaries approach $86K and about $83K, respectively. Sliding in near the bottom are Senior Accountants, who report earnings of $67K.

Many SLU students are St. Louis, Mo.-bound following college. Another city that attracts a wealth of SLU grads is Atlanta, Ga.; given its high compensation ($91K is the average salary), the city's popularity should come as no surprise. SLU alumni in Tampa, Fla. can often be found sliding in at the lower end of the pay scale, where median paychecks are the smallest at approximately $50K. Other cities of interest include Chicago, Ill. and Austin, Texas.

Degree Major

A graduate with a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Finance from SLU can rake in a whopping average around $120K per year, more than any other degree from this school. A Bachelor of Science in Business & Marketing is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of about $44K.

Former Billikens with Orthopedics abilities can expect to make 28 percent more than their former classmates (approximately $80K). Around a tenth of grads report using Microsoft Excel as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Demonstrated ability in Financial Analysis, Project Management, and Microsoft Office rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one-fourth of alumni get sick time. A large number of alums allocate some part of their earnings to a company-sponsored 401(k) savings plan. Most grads enjoy benefits like health insurance, while a strong majority of respondents receive dental plans, too. Saint Louis University grads also enjoy benefits like life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.

Related Schools

Median pay for University of Denver grads is $63K, making their salaries most similar to those of SLU grads. Other schools similar to SLU include Loyola University-Chicago, Howard University, and Catholic University of America.
