The majority of SLU alumni wind up in the health care industry. The manufacturing industry is perhaps the least commonly worked industry among SLU grads, with less than two percent of former students experienced in this area. The most generous salaries among SLU alumni are reportedly earned by Chief Operating Officers, whose median earnings come to $174K, followed by Senior Web Developers ($109K) and Finance Managers ($89K). Senior Accountants pick up approximately $67K in financial rewards, representing the lowest-paid position among alumni.


Many SLU grads flock to St. Louis, Mo. It is also not uncommon to find former SLU students living and working in Kansas City, Mo. — this top-paying city is a popular destination with a median salary of about $131K. The city with the lowest median paycheck frequented by SLU alumni is Tampa, Fla., where earnings average $48K. Chicago, Ill. and Atlanta, Ga. are also desirable cities.

Degree Major

With a median annual earnings of $182K per year, former Billikens who have a medical degree are the best paid among the alumni population. Graduates holding a Master of Science (MS), Dietetics fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of $40K.


Former Billikens with Orthopedics experience garner salaries that are 28 percent more than other grads' salaries. SLU alumni are often well versed in Microsoft Excel, with close to one-tenth of grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Demonstrated ability in Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Financial Analysis rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (two-fifths of alumni and one-fourth of alumni, respectively). For this school, most grads are the recipients of health benefits, and a strong majority of respondents pick up dental plans, too. In an effort to save up for the years ahead, most respondents contribute to a 401(k). Saint Louis University alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, tuition reimbursement, a casual working environment, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
