Graduates of SJSU head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; IT services, software as a service (SAAS) development, and the software services industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. A Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (CS) will compensate SJSU grads at a much higher rate than other degrees — these alums rake in $129K on average per year. Those holding a B.A. in Communication are less fortunate in terms of earnings, bringing in about $39K on average per year.


Many former SJSU students are familiar with Microsoft Excel, and nearly one in seven grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Knowledge of People Management seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 69 percent more than their former classmates' salaries (approximately $129K). Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Service rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only one-third of alumni for this school enjoy paid vacation days and about one-fifth of alumni get paid sick time. Most grads have medical plans, and a strong majority of alumni have dental insurance. A large number of grads plan for retirement by taking advantage of a company-sponsored 401(k) program.
