SSU alumni find work in an assortment of industries including the retail industry, the education industry, and the manufacturing industry. The majority of alumni accept jobs in the winery industry. The average salary for a grad from SSU is $58K.


Male graduates of SSU out-earn their female counterparts significantly, earning an average of around $72K versus $60K for women.

Degree Major

Among the highest-paid SSU alumni are those with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) — they earn close to $111K per year. On the other end of the spectrum, those with a B.A. in Liberal Arts tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making about $35K per year.


Nearly one in seven grads report using Microsoft Excel as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Competency in Budget Management translates into above-average pay for former Seawolves — they earn 55 percent more than their fellow graduates. Other prime know-hows include Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Service.

Benefits and Perks

When it comes to benefits, there is room for improvement — only two-fifths of alumni are paid for vacation and just one in three grads for sick time. A fair portion of alums enjoy benefits like health insurance, while a majority of grads receive dental plans, too. Most graduates set up a 401(k) to save for retirement. Sonoma State University grads also enjoy benefits like a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
