SSU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include the financial services industry, the winery industry, and the manufacturing industry. Among SSU grads, the retail industry is a commonly chosen career field. Starting salaries of approximately $61K are the median among SSU grads.

Among SSU alumni, those working as Financial Analysis Managers report the highest median pay of $104K, followed by Marketing Communications Managers and Senior Financial Analysts (both $88K). On the flipside, the lowest-paying city popular among SSU grads is Sacramento, Calif. (median compensation is around $55K). Close-by San Francisco, Calif. and Petaluma, Calif. are also desirable cities among SSU alumni.

Degree Major

SSU grads are usually competent in Microsoft Excel, and roughly one in six alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Knowledge of Financial Analysis seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 45 percent more than their former classmates' salaries ($89K). In addition, those who are savvy in Project Management, Financial Analysis, and Microsoft Office are also considered highly skilled.

Benefits and Perks

Close to half of the survey participants report receiving paid vacation days, but just one in four survey participants are paid for sick leave. A large number of survey participants participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; most respondents are rewarded with health insurance and a fair number of respondents report dental coverage, too. Graduates of Sonoma State University are also recipients of a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
