Graduates of SSU work in a variety of sectors including the retail industry, the education industry, and the manufacturing industry. The winery industry is the sector most highly represented among alumni. Following graduation, SSU students earn an average of approximately $58K.

After graduation, women go on to earn an average of $60K per year compared to men, who earn $72K.

Financial Analysis Managers win the contest for best-paid SSU alumni, typically making about $104K every year, though Senior Financial Analysts ($88K), and Marketing Communications Managers ($87K) are not far behind. Sliding in near the bottom are Outside Sales Representatives, who report earnings of around $40K.

Santa Rosa is a hub for SSU graduates — a large number call this city home. It is no surprise that San Diego, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is $87K), is another of the most popular spots for former SSU students. For comparison, the lowest-paying city popular with SSU alumni is San Rafael, which offers median salaries of $48K. Neighboring San Francisco is another common pick among SSU grads, along with Petaluma.

Degree Major

SSU students with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) can expect to make the most money (around $111K per year) compared to their fellow graduates. Graduates holding a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Business & Marketing fare the worst in terms of compensation with yearly salaries of about $40K.

Many SSU grads have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with approximately one in seven alumni using this program on the clock. Former Seawolves with Financial Analysis experience garner salaries that are 45 percent more than other grads' salaries. Project Management, Microsoft Office, and Customer Service are desirable skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Only two-fifths of alumni earn paid vacation and just one-third of alumni get paid sick time. Benefits are rather generous for graduates of this school; most grads are rewarded with health insurance and a majority of alumni report dental coverage, too. Most respondents save up for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Sonoma State University grads are also lucky enough to receive a casual working environment, life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
