Graduates of Southeast Missouri go into the health care industry, the manufacturing industry, and the education industry, not to mention a variety of other lines of work. The banking industry registers as the most common industry among alumni. A far departure from high-scoring SAT results, Southeast Missouri alumni report earning only moderate salaries after graduating. The average salary for a grad from Southeast Missouri is $47K.


There's a noticeable difference between the genders; where the average man hauls in approximately $63K after graduating from Southeast Missouri, the average woman earns only around $44K.


Information Technology Directors win the contest for best-paid Southeast Missouri alumni, typically making $159K every year, though Family Nurse Practitioners ($81K), and Software Engineers ($76K) are not far behind. Marketing Coordinators wrap up the bottom of the pay scale, earning about $43K.


The most popular destination for former Southeast Missouri students is St. Louis. With a median salary of $68K, Springfield represents the highest-paid city popular among Southeast Missouri grads. On the other hand, Southeast Missouri alumni who end up in Kansas City receive the lowest median salaries of $39K. Neighboring Cape Girardeau is another common pick among Southeast Missouri grads, along with Sikeston.

Degree Major

A B.A. in Bachelor of Arts and Science (BASc) earns Southeast Missouri students the most money after college (approximately $145K per year). Annual salaries for those with a Bachelor of Science in General Studies are the lowest of the pack, earning around $30K.


Many former Southeast Missouri students are familiar with Microsoft Excel, and one-tenth of grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Competency in Operations Management translates into above-average pay for former Redhawks — they earn 58 percent more than their fellow graduates. Also considered top-notch skills are Microsoft Office, Customer Service, and Operations Management.

Only half of the alumni earn paid vacation and just one in three grads get paid sick time. Health coverage is awarded to the greater part of alumni, and dental insurance is issued to a majority of alums as well.
