Industry

SWOSU alumni can most commonly be found in the health care industry, the banking industry, and clinical care, though they are employed throughout a wide range of sectors. The retail pharmacy or drugstore industry is the sector most highly represented among alumni. The least popular industry for former SWOSU students is public K-12 education — less than five percent of these people end up working in this field. The average salary for a grad from SWOSU is around $51K.

Gender

After graduation, disparities in salary rise to the surface — males tend to earn $71K per year compared to females' about $37K.

Jobs

The most generous salaries among SWOSU alumni are reportedly earned by Chief Executive Officers, whose earnings come to $145K, followed by Pharmacists ($107K) and Operations Managers (approximately $61K). Collecting the smallest paychecks are Licensed Professional Counselors — they bring in $38K.

Locations

Many SWOSU students are Oklahoma City-bound following college. It is also not uncommon to find former SWOSU students living and working in Dallas — this top-paying city is a popular destination with a median salary of approximately $97K. On the other hand, SWOSU alumni who end up in Edmond receive the lowest median salaries of $42K. SWOSU alumni express interest in nearby Clinton and Tulsa as well.

Degree Major

With annual earnings of $115K per year, former Bulldogs who have a medical degree are the best paid among the alumni population. Graduates holding a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Business Management fare the worst in terms of compensation with yearly salaries of $50K.

Skills

SWOSU grads are usually competent in Retail Pharmacy, and less than ten percent of alumni continue practicing this skill in their career. Knowing Retail Pharmacy can pay off big time for former Bulldogs, who can expect a 110 percent bigger paycheck than other grads. Also considered top-notch skills are Customer Service, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office.

Benefits and Perks

Though vacation and sick days are paid for some, these benefits are reported by the minority of graduates (half of the alumni and one-third of alumni, respectively). A fair portion of former students have medical plans, and a majority of grads have dental insurance. Most respondents opt for a 401(k) to save for retirement. Southwestern Oklahoma State University alumni are also on the receiving end of life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.

Related Schools

Adams State College graduates, who earn around $50K on average, make a similar amount to SWOSU grads. Other schools similar to SWOSU include Midwestern State University, Southeastern Oklahoma State University, and Henderson State University.
