Graduates of SJU work in a variety of industries including the banking industry, law, and the health care industry. The most popular field is the financial services industry. Former SJU graduates tend to bring in $71K.


Male graduates of SJU out-earn their female counterparts significantly, earning an average of around $82K versus $60K for women.


In the SJU alumni professional community, Chief Financial Officers make the highest median pay ($178K), though Attorneys (approximately $118K), and Physician Assistants (about $97K) are close competitors. Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Paralegals, making an average of $48K.


A large number of students head to New York after college. With a median salary of $83K, Melville represents the highest-paid city popular among SJU grads. On the other end, SJU grads flock to Staten Island, which actually offers the weakest median salaries of approximately $47K. Philadelphia and Washington, DC also rank high on the list of cities.

Degree Major

SJU grads who hold a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy can expect to fare better than most fellow alumni, earning $126K per year. A Bachelor of Science in Public Relations (PR) offers the lowest annual financial reward ($29K).


SJU alumni are often well versed in Microsoft Excel, with one-eighth of grads ending up in jobs that require this skillset. Former Red Storms with Operations Management experience garner salaries that are 20 percent more than other grads' salaries. Demonstrated ability in Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Service rank among leading skills as well.

Benefits and Perks

Just two-fifths of alumni enjoy paid vacation and merely one in four survey participants get paid sick time. A solid majority of grads receive health insurance, and a majority of alums get dental coverage. A strong majority of former students save up for retirement through a 401(k) plan. St John's University graduates also take advantage of life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
