Graduates of SJU head into a range of vocations when it comes to work; the financial services industry, the education industry, and the retail pharmacy or drugstore industry are just a few professional areas popular among alumni. A large chunk of former SJU students are employed in the banking industry; in fact, this is the most popular job sector for this population. New York, N.Y. is a hot spot for SJU alum. In addition, former SJU students often head to Columbia, Md. after graduating, where the median salary comes to $95K in this top-paying city. Home to the lowest median salary for SJU alumni is Newark, N.J., a popular place for former students despite its $48K average paycheck. Philadelphia, Pa. and Hauppauge, N.Y. also rank high on the list of cities.

Degree Major

Financial compensation is highest for SJU grads with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (EE) (average earnings climb to approximately $160K per year). On the other end of the spectrum, those with a Master of Science (MS), Accounting tend to do the worst in terms of salary, making an average about $41K per year.


Many SJU grads have knowledge of Microsoft Excel, with close to one-sixth of alumni using this program on the clock. Former Red Storms with Financial Analysis experience garner salaries that are 46 percent more than other grads' salaries. Also considered top-notch skills are Microsoft Office, Customer Service, and Project Management.

Benefits and Perks

Just one-third of alumni enjoy paid vacation and merely one-fourth of alumni get paid sick time. A strong majority of alums receive health insurance, and the larger part of graduates get dental coverage. A fair number of alumni save up for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Additional perks enjoyed by St John's University grads include life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
