Graduates of SJU are found working in a number of different fields including the banking industry, the retail pharmacy or drugstore industry, and law. Among SJU grads, the financial services industry is a commonly chosen career field. Former SJU graduates tend to bring in $72K.


After graduation, disparities in salary rise to the surface — males tend to earn around $83K per year compared to females' $61K.


Former SJU students with an interest in making money consider becoming Chief Financial Officers, the highest-paying gig (earnings amount to about $178K) among this alumni group. Other well-paid jobs include Pharmacists ($115K) and Attorneys (approximately $113K). Relative to other positions, compensation dwindles for Paralegals; alumni in this role face average salaries of $48K.


A large number of students head to New York after college. With a median salary of $82K, Melville represents the highest-paid city popular among SJU grads. Though Staten Island takes the cake for lowest pay among SJU grads (the median salary is $47K there), it remains a common destination for former students. In addition, grads flock to Philadelphia as well as Washington, DC.

Degree Major

A Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy earns SJU students the most money after college ($126K per year). Graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies fare the worst in terms of compensation with yearly salaries of $48K.


Many former SJU students are familiar with Microsoft Excel, and about one in eight grads move on to positions where this experience is utilized. Former Red Storms with Budget Management experience garner salaries that are 19 percent more than other grads' salaries. Other prime know-hows include Microsoft Office, Project Management, and Customer Service.

Benefits and Perks

Only two-fifths of alumni earn paid vacation and just one-third of alumni get paid sick time. Dental insurance applies to a majority of former students, and a strong majority of survey participants report health coverage. A solid majority of grads participate in a 401(k) retirement savings plan. Alumni of St John's University also take in life insurance, a casual working environment, a company-subsidized cell phone, and tuition reimbursement.
