SJU alumni belong to a wide range of sectors. A few fields in which grads tend to find work include the banking industry, the education industry, and law. The most popular professional field seems to be the financial services industry. Median pay for those who graduated from SJU amounts to $71K.

SJU grads who become Chief Financial Officers garner financial rewards beyond any other job type for this group — these alumni rake in an average $198K annually. New York, N.Y. is a hub for SJU graduates — a large number call this city home. The top-paying city popular with SJU alumni is Staten Island, N.Y., which offers a median salary of about $118K. The city with the lowest median paycheck frequented by SJU alumni is Orlando, Fla., where earnings average $47K. Alumni express interest in Philadelphia, Pa. and Melville, N.Y. as well.

Degree Major

SJU grads who hold a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy can expect to fare better than most fellow alumni, earning an average $140K per year. Graduates holding a Bachelor of Science in Public Relations (PR) fare the worst in terms of compensation with an average yearly salary of around $29K.


Operations Management commands a pay premium of 21 percent for former Red Storms. One-seventh of grads report using Microsoft Excel as part of their job, making it the most popular skill. Also considered top-notch skills are Microsoft Office, Customer Service, and Project Management.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in four survey participants get sick time. Most alums save for retirement through a 401(k) plan. Health benefits extend to most alumni, and more than half of graduates also receive dental coverage. St John's University graduates also take advantage of life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
