Graduates of the UL Lafayette are found working in a number of different fields including the health care industry, clinical care, and the oil and gas exploration industry. The most popular field is the oil and gas field services industry. UL Lafayette graduates in the engineering services industry industry are hard pressed to find, with less than two percent of former students taking up work in this field. Those with a degree from UL Lafayette tend to make about $60K.


Male graduates do tend to earn more than female graduates; the first group banks $75K per year, but the second group takes home only around $48K.


The biggest paychecks among UL Lafayette alumni are earned by Petroleum Engineers — these former students make $134K per year. It is no surprise that Houston, which hands out the biggest paychecks (the average salary is $95K), is another of the most popular spots for former UL Lafayette students. For comparison, the lowest paying city popular with UL Lafayette alumni is Broussard, which offers median salaries of $51K. Other common destinations for UL Lafayette grads include close-by Baton Rouge and New Orleans.


UL Lafayette alumni can earn the most money (approximately $98K) at Chevron Corporation. In contrast, below-average pay is the norm at Frank's Casing Crew; median compensation there comes out to $60K.

Degree Major

UL Lafayette grads who hold a Master of Computer Science (MCS), Computer Science (CS) can expect to fare better than most fellow alumni, earning $115K per year. A B.A. in Communication offers the lowest annual financial reward (around $34K).


Former Ragin' Cajuns who have experience with People Management can expect to make 48 percent more than other alumni (about $89K on average). Around one in seven UL Lafayette grads wind up using Project Management at their job, which is one of the most common skills among alumni. Other top skills include Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Engineering Design.

Benefits and Perks

Only half of the alumni earn paid vacation and just one-third of alumni get paid sick time. The greater part of graduates set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). It is no small feat that a strong majority of respondents are given health coverage, and a majority of alums accept dental insurance. University of Louisiana at Lafayette grads are also lucky enough to receive life insurance, a company-subsidized cell phone, a casual working environment, and tuition reimbursement.
