Graduates of the USF are found working in a number of different fields including the education industry, the financial services industry, and the health care services industry. The health care industry registers as the most common industry among alumni. Former USF graduates bring in $57K on average.


The biggest paychecks among USF alumni are earned by Sales Engineers — these former students make a median salary of around $73K per year. The next biggest paychecks go to Financial Controllers ($65K) and Marketing Managers ($64K). Sitting at the bottom of the pay scale are Office Managers who make an average of approximately $30K.


Tampa is a popular place for USF students to settle after graduation, and more than a third of grads find steadfast employment in the city. USF alumni seeking the highest salaries end up in New York, N.Y., which offers a median salary of about $90K. Orlando, Fla. is a popular spot for former USF students at the opposite end of the pay scale; in fact, average salaries there are the lowest at $45K. Graduates of USF also relocate to St. Petersburg, Fla., which is not far away, and Sarasota, Fla.

Degree Major

A Bachelor's Degree, Finance leads to the highest pay for USF grads (approximately $98K on average per year). A B.A. in Political Science (PolySci) is less advantageous in terms of earnings; alums with this degree are the lowest earners with a median annual pay of $33K.


Knowledge of Project Management seems to be related to bigger paychecks; in fact, skilled alumni bring in salaries that are 18 percent more than their former classmates' salaries (around $67K). Microsoft Office is a common skill among USF alumni — close to one-seventh of grads mention using it at work. Other top skills include Microsoft Excel, Project Management, and Data Analysis.

Benefits and Perks

A lucky minority (about two-fifths of alumni) are fortunate enough to be compensated for vacation while just one in four survey participants get sick time. Most alumni set aside retirement funds in an employer-sponsored 401(k). A large number of former students receive health insurance, and a strong majority of graduates get dental coverage. Alumni of University of South Florida also take in life insurance, a casual working environment, tuition reimbursement, and a company-subsidized cell phone.
