What is it like working as a Process Engineer?
Process Engineer in Richards Bay:
Pros: Always learning new things on the job which keeps you busy all the time. Being given the lead of a project as soon as I enter the industry.
Cons: Not being able to differentiate between my job and someone else's job as I end up having to do multiple parts of a project and sometimes am uncertain about whether it is correct.
Process Engineer in Johannesburg:
"Corporate Culture, Stress Levels, Lean Manufacturing."
Pros: It gives me the experience to be best in class in terms of world class manufacturing. My job focuses on continuous improvement effecting the business at large. It gives me opportunity to collaborate with.
Other departments prompting team work. Exposure to lean manufacturing and six sigma creates a mindset in which projects can be set up based on variation and making sure the right measures are put in place to ensure process capability. To be able to think in an innovative way which effects the bottom line of the business at large.
Cons: Continuously demotivated by the poor salary conditions and not given a distinct direction of what are the expectations with no targets in place. Frustration on not being recognized and seems not valuable to the company due to bias agendas.
