In my experience, employers respond very quickly to your salary increase if you threaten to leave. Yes this approach is a dangerous one and you should be able to leave (have a job lined up elsewhere) if it wouldn't work. But if it works it works well. Asking for a raise based on increased work volume or additional tasks you perform will give you another 2% a year at best.

1. Know what you are getting into. Plan accordingly. 2. When you are handling something new, sometime it is hard to predict what you are getting into. There will be some learnings, but use the learnings so you don't make the same mistake again. Good Luck

I have been in the administrative field for 15 + years and in 1992 I started out making $7.00 an hour, which for me was a large salary from being on welfare with two small children.
