I moved to the Clifton/Centreville area July 1st- relocating from Oregon. I was told that finding a job here, would be very easy. It is Early September, and it has not been as easy as everyone predicted. I do not possess experience in Government B2B or Hi Tech experience which is huge in this market, as my experience was in Steel Sales (10 years) and here in Northern Virginia my experience in Steel will get me very little action. As a self-employed person who works a national market, a move does not have to be disruptive. Keep a P.O. box in your old location for at least a year, make sure you have call forwarding for at least a year and/or get an 800 line so your clients do not lose you. Follow up with all your clients or potential clients in your database with new contact information: this can also be done by e-mail. New invoices will obviously note the new location.
