Cheery or Scroogey? Ho-Ho-Holiday Happiness for Retail Workers

Which retail workers are merry, jolly and happy to serve you this holiday season? asked retail workers at various major outlets to rate their levels of stress and satisfaction on the job and came up with a happiness score for each group. It turns out that some holiday workers like their retail gigs much more than others – and pay and benefits don’t always make the big difference.

Neiman Marcus topped all retail employers for pay, percent of part-time employees with benefits and employee happiness.
Walmart’s employees reported the least satisfaction and most stress at work.
– Two Pacific Northwest companies, Starbucks and Costco, may not have the very happiest employees, but they are generous with pay, and benefits to part-time workers.
