Two recent articles are great ways to start to understand the direction HR technology is heading and the impact the cloud is having on organizations. In a great piece in CFO Magazine, David McCann writes about A Cloudy Revolution for HR Tech Arena. I highly recommend it if you’re interested in starting to understand the state of HR technology and the rapidly-evolving apps that are fast becoming must haves for businesses of all sizes.
It’s kind of a primer in the categories of HCMS (human capital management systems), Core HR (what used to be called HRIS), as well as where Talent Management, Performance Management, Success Planning and Compensation Management.
Josh Bersin, renowned HR thought leader and consultant, penned a thoughtful piece in Forbes highlighting the need for business software to evolve and evolve rapidly. He contrasts the systems of record, as embodied by ERP vendors, with more modern systems of engagement, as embodied by the likes of Silk Road and Workday.
