Job Description for Electrical Design Engineer
The electrical design engineer creates new design projects, as well as analyzes and improves on existing design from an engineering perspective. This position is found in a variety of industries; several that include high demand for electrical design engineers include the semiconductor industry and electronics manufacturers. In the semiconductor industry, the electrical design engineer seeks to improve upon the design of current semiconductor technology, developing new ways to create higher efficiency and capacity wafers. In the electronics manufacturing industry, the electrical design engineer works to develop a new product that takes advantage of electromagnetic principles; they also may seek to improve upon the design of common household devices such as televisions, radios, stereos, and home computing devices.Read More...
The ability to conceptualize, create, and outline hardware design is important to this position. Ensuring that designs meet client, company, and industry guidelines is essential. Due to client demands and relevant standards or regulations, attention to detail is a core skill set for an electrical design engineer. The ability to design and problem solve while working either in teams or individually is also important.
Electrical design engineers generally must have at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Experience in electrical design is also required for most positions.
