A public relations officer’s main objective is to communicate with the media and other outside news and press organizations to ensure that all media communications regarding the company are positive. Individuals in this position typically work with other individuals in varying levels of responsibility within the organization, including executives, assistants, senior managers, customer service personnel, marketing professionals, and sales representatives. The position is typically full time in an office setting, although overtime may be required during specific periods of time and prior to large events. Some travel is usually required. This job typically reports to a marketing director or manager.
Public relations officer jobs typically require a bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or a related field, as well as three to five years of public relations experience.
