The construction project supervisor must manage activities and ensure proper placement of material and vendor resources. They must be strong self-starters and have a growing knowledge of the terms and conditions of each state in which they work. They deliver progress reports and lead meetings on safety and plan changes.
Construction project supervisors need a bachelor’s degree or higher in civil construction, industrial or mechanical engineering. Many companies prefer want previous experience in project management. They will also require knowledge of basic computer software. Construction project supervisors need to have experience in scheduling, cost control, and engineering to ensure the job is done in the set time frame. They also should have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This job normally requires some bit of travel, which may be for extended periods. Normally, individuals in this position work during regular business hours, although they may work nights, weekends, and holidays if a project deadline is approaching or if a problem arises.
