Job Description for Quality Engineer

The job of a quality engineer is to generate a specific plan for improving the business with external suppliers. These plans are usually generated every month. You also present the plan to your supervisor, who is usually a more advanced engineer. To be successful at this job, you must be well-versed with computers. Also, it is required to have a bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of three years of experience in quality insurance.

You will associate with a professional society that has an interest in engineering as well. You may also be asked to train new technicians. At some companies, you would review other engineers’ ideas to improve quality assurance within the company. You would most likely work with other engineers to formulate a business plan to increase productivity within the company. You do this by calculating numbers and adding factors, such as cost of labor and time. This job is usually indoors, but you might have the option to work at home, as long as your work is accurate and effective.

This job involves quite a bit of brainstorming. Your job is basically to improve the business from within, with strategic plans to generate revenue within your company. If you do this, you will have job security and will most likely enjoy your job greatly.

Quality Engineer Tasks
  • Develop and implement manufacturing methods for inspection and testing to promote efficient staff and facility utilization.
  • Plan and direct production and development operations to ensure conformance to specifications and make necessary process or assembly adjustments.
  • Develop cost effective processes for discarded or rejected products, materials, and equipment not meeting specifications.
  • Confer and monitor inspection staff procedures, product specifications and project status.
