Sharepoint administrators manage the servers for the Sharepoint system. If something goes wrong with the intranet, they are expected to troubleshoot and fix the server issues. They also check for patches and updates as required, ensuring that the platform is completely up to date with the most recently released updates.
Sharepoint administrators are required to set permissions for Sharepoint for the employees using it. This may involve setting certain people up to make edits or add new files, or only allowing a specific department access to a folder or file. They also manage the usage and activity of Sharepoint to see how the system is being used and whether or not any changes need to be made to make use more effective and efficient.
Sharepoint administrators regularly review the accounts, sites, and files on the intranet. Any outdated files or folders may be archived or deleted. They may decide that there is a more effective way to configure the layout or folders for a set group of files. They may add or delete alerts to the accounts and monitor the disk space that is being used by the files.
