Job Description for Waiter/Waitress Counter

Counter waiters and waitresses work with kitchen staff, shift leaders, and managers to serve customers food from a counter (such as at a diner or take-out counter). These waiters are generally responsible for preparing tables or eating areas for customers' meals, taking patrons' orders, answering any questions, and making suggestions based on patron's wants. They are also in charge of writing down and processing food orders, serving food, and responding to any customer needs to ensure a pleasant dining experience. If the customer has any problems, the waiter must immediately take action to resolve any issues and (if required) involve management to ensure the customer is satisfied. In facilities that serve alcoholic beverages, counter waiters check IDs to confirm patrons are of legal age to drink alcoholic beverages.
