Aircraft maintenance supervisors are responsible for providing timely maintenance to aircraft, including performing troubleshooting to aircraft processes and systems to find errors and mechanical issues. They use specialized equipment to complete maintenance tasks, and must also assemble teams of license aircraft mechanics to work on planes.Read More...
These supervisors direct maintenance tasks following specific safety protocols and must develop strong business relationships with aircraft parts vendors and distributors. They should work well with other airline supervisors to coordinate schedules and budgets for each project and must also comply with maintenance training sessions and provide support when difficult circumstances arise. They lead the way with productivity initiatives and create documentation for future reference, and should have strong communication skills to interact with staff, pilots, mechanics, and aircraft representatives.
These supervisors should be able to stand on their feet for several hours at a time and carry heavy objects on a regular basis, and must know how to operate different aircraft models and troubleshoot engines and computer systems. They should be proficient with personal computers to write reports based on their observations, research repair issues, and write logs to databases, and must know how to operate plumbing, control systems, and electrical and mechanical processes to verify correct functioning based on operations manuals.
