Carpet installers have a physical job with many responsibilities, including measuring and prepping a room for carpeting, ripping up and disposing of old carpet, going over samples and carpet products with clients, and installing the new carpet. Carpet installers should have an eye for detail, be able to complete a job once they've started, be able to work well with others and be able to work well on their own with minimal supervision. Generally, installers need to have prior knowledge of estimating and measuring, and they must be creative and able to repair anything that is damaged. Preferably, they should have experience using various tools related to installation. They typically work indoors and are employed by a variety of companies, often those in construction. They work alone, with other carpet installers (depending on project size), and/or people of other trades who are also working on the same project. Clients may include anyone from individuals wanting to carpet a home to large corporations looking for carpeting in their office.
