Q: What is it like working as a Cashier?
"How much should I ask for rate of pay."
Cashier in Kelowna:
Pros: Awesome city to live in.
Cons: Too pricey.
Cashier in Minneapolis:
Pros: I have really great coworkers and it's generally a good environment. At my store we've started decorating for the holidays.
Cons: The customers mostly. We had two concerts the other night and in the first I had people screaming in my face about how it was taking too long.
give very little information about ones personal life, be who you are, stand up for yourself when a manager calls you a lair to your face, always have a smile when dealing with your customers count there cash back, try to answer any questions they may ask of you if you dont know the answer tell them (if you have a minute i will ask someone that might know the answer to your question, appearance is always good,be polite, know who you can trust if you may have a problem, be friendly to your piers, be responsible, be on time, you have to like what you are doing to make oneself happy.
"I wish I knew how our Store owner treated his employees."
The best advice I have for a new cashier is to look for another job. Working in this store is like a last ditch effort, when you can't find anything else. Our owner is very rude, and can't make up his mind about anything, making it very difficult to follow his instructions. I wish I could find another job nearby.
Pros: its chill the people are nice and females don't have to lift heavy materials
Cons: its so slow and the manager
"Meeting people, helping others."
Cons: Bad management
"Stressful, fast-paced work environment, poor management"
Pros: The regulars that would come in for their morning coffee. Made some friends there. Most of my fellow employees were very good and fun to work with.
Cons: The stress level. When it gets really busy during breakfast, it is always chaotic. The shortage of staff was really bad too. 2 people to take care of over 50 customers inside add the drive-thru customers. And the way some customers treat us staff. It wasn't good.
