Oil and gas engineering technicians generally work in the oil and gas industry, assisting engineers on projects by performing various technical tasks and set-up. In addition, they work with data and files to collect and organize needed paperwork and research. These engineering technicians perform analysis for project, which may include identifying anomalies or weaknesses in current plans, as well as identifying trends and industry standards. Oil and gas engineering technicians generally work in an office setting under close supervision from higher-level employees, though these engineering technicians must also be able to work effectively on their own with minimal superivsion. Risks and hazards should be minimal as long as company standards and regulations are followed carefully. Work hours vary greatly from company to company, with many different shifts often available depending on projects and company protocols.
