A hazard analysis critical control point (HACCP) coordinator ensures that the food produced by their organization is safe for consumption; they do this using their in-depth knowledge of food safety rules and regulations at the local, state and federal levels. Typically, a HACCP coordinator works in an establishment to ensure the HACCP food safety management system is in place and effective; they may work on their own or as part of a HACCP team. Specific duties performed by HACCP coordinators may include training employees in food safety procedures, reviewing any safety issues and recommending needed changes, developing new food safety procedures and implementing these procedures (reviewing their effectiveness periodically).
