A medical/clinical laboratory technician performs a number of tasks in a medical laboratory within a hospital or other independent medical laboratory setting; their primary focus is generally specimen collection, processing, and handling. The medical laboratory technician is expected to follow all rules and protocols at all times, ensuring quality control for all collected specimens. Medical laboratory technicians also read, understand, analyze, maintain, and record all test results. Pros: I love working with patients. My job description includes: registering patients, testing their symptoms, performing vitals, performing laboratory testing, urinalysis, pregnancy tests, rapid strep tests, phlebotomy, administrating injections and immunizations, medical billing, ordering supplies for the clinic, doing referrals for patients, faxing other medical facilities and important medical results
Cons: Working alone for half of my shift. Our clinic gets extremely busy and I have to run the whole office on my own. Answering phones , registering patients, bringing them in.
