Job Description for Optical Laboratory Technician

An optical laboratory technician assists with optical lab operations to produce glasses. Some of their duties might include reviewing prescriptions and selecting the correct frames and lenses, stocking and organizing inventory of lenses and other accessories, entering prescription information into a database, logging shipment information, and keeping track of received orders and shipping them as necessary. When fulfilling the prescriptions, the optical laboratory technician needs to make sure that the orders to be shipped meet all quality standards, meaning lenses and frames must be thoroughly inspected. The optical laboratory technician ensures that orders are packaged adequately and fulfilled correctly. They may also need to surface and refinish glasses.
