Financial operations AVPs must ensure that the company adheres to all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and they work closely with both internal and external auditors. They must also conduct performance evaluation reviews of employees in accordance with the organization’s guidelines, procedures, and policies and provide timely feedback.
A bachelor's degree in finance or a related field and significant experience in finance and management are necessary for this position, and strong verbal and written communication skills are also important. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills are necessary to build strong teamwork, and they should also be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. They are encouraged to keep their skills and knowledge up-to-date by reading financial journals, and they may also interview potential senior employees or coach and mentor their staff.
