Job Description for Personal Banking Officer
The personal banking officer helps customers find solutions to their banking needs. The personal baking officer offers customers assistance with applying for credit cards, CDs, checking and savings accounts, loans, and other products the bank might have. The personal banking officer manages customer portfolios and offers them products based on their needs. The personal banking officer should be able to answer any concerns or questions that customers have about banking products. The personal banking officer must have basic computer skills since electronic communication and helping customers with online banking are part of their job. Strong interpersonal skills are essential since interacting with customers, other bankers tellers, and supervisors is a main part of the job. Being able to build relationships with others is important so that customers will return in the future, and telephone skills are important as products may be offered to customers through phone calls. Often, this position offers commission in addition to base pay for opening accounts. There may also be minimum referral goals that the personal banking offer is expected to reach. The personal banking officer may also be required to perform teller duties when necessary, so knowledge and experience in this area is often required.
