Job Description for Sr. Associate Architect (but not Landscape or Naval)

Senior associate architects (but not landscape or naval) are responsible for assisting with architectural tasks, as well as participating in construction documentation for their organization. They supervise computer-aided designs and provide advice on how to meet all project requirements and standards, as well as facilitate client and architect communication by providing clear, concise architectural details and ideas. Other responsibilities include preparing specifications for engineering drawings, collaborating with other architects to create a cohesive concepts and achieve project requirements, and interacting with different construction professionals to revise existing designs as needed. They generally report their progress to the senior architect in charge of their department.

At least a bachelor's degree in architecture or a related field is required for this position. Previous experience in a similar associate architect capacity is generally needed, and industry certifications may be beneficial. Senior associate architects need to be proficient with basic computer software to communicate with colleagues and modify existing plans. They should know how to work plotters and interpret architectural sketches for models in different dimensions as well. Additionally, senior associate architects must be organized and pay close attention to detail. They also must know how to read technical documentation, contracts, and blueprints and be able to create detailed reports based on their observations.
