Job Description for Manufacturing Technician, Semiconductors

Manufacturing technicians work with a variety of electronics and conducts tests on mechanical and electrical wiring systems to ensure that they function properly. This work is considered both physical and mental, and in-depth knowledge of electronics is highly beneficial.



Most manufacturing technicians work indoors and may need to travel to various locations to work on electronic systems, and they generally work with other manufacturing technicians or independently in order to fix or replace a a variety of electrical systems. A college degree and at least 6 months of prior experience may be required by some employers, and the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals is also necessary. Manufacturing technicians typically work day shifts during regular business hours.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot chemical-mechanical planarization.
  • Generate operation and process training materials.
  • Analyze data and increase process optimization.
  • Ensure equipment is running properly and perform adjustments as needed.
