Job Description for A-Operator
An A-Operator is vital to any oil-welling organization. The A-Operator must operate the production facility, whether it is on land or offshore. A primary responsibility for the A-Operator is to test, maintain and inspect equipment to ensure proper function. This includes both testing the systems and cleaning them on a regular basis. All A-Operates must have at least a competency level in treating and handling hazardous chemicals. One job requirement is being adept at coordinating logistics for the facility onsite. Another requirement is being organized, due to the high-risk nature of the chemicals and materials used. Additional job duties include filling out paperwork for both customers and government agencies. Some advanced computer knowledge is essential to this job.
At least two years of experience as an A-Operator at another well is required. Additional experience as a B-Operator or a C-Operator is not required but is helpful. Hydrogen sulfide gas or H2S training is essential to this job and required by law. Also required is PEC Core Compliance training. This must be updated yearly to comply with environmental regulations. Crane certification, specifically for hydraulic drilling, is also required but can be obtained during job training.
