The key responsibility of the assistant vice president for corporate and foundation relations is to create and implement a corporate fundraising strategy. They also seek out potential donors, and local travel may be required when soliciting prospective donors. Good communication skills are a must, as it is necessary to reach out to both colleagues and prospects. The ability to create and maintain a budget is absolutely necessary. Assistant vice presidents of corporate and foundation relations should be goal-oriented, with the ability to meet a certain amount of donors per year to fulfill the outlined budget. Other duties may be assigned, including, but not limited to, responsibilities as major gift officer and/or annual fund gift officer. A minimum of a bachelor's degree is generally required for this position, though a master's degree is often preferred. Strong leadership and organizational skills are a must.
