Job Description for Clinical Data Analyst
Clinical data analysts manage and examine clinical data for their organization. Their typical duties include data reporting, data analytics, and data mining, as well as coordinating with relevant departments (for example, the clinical operations and clinical strategy departments) to determine areas for analysis and the appropriate metrics to ensure data analysis is optimally useful. They must develop plans for data-related projects, identifying necessary resources and determining timelines and milestones. Clinical data analysts should also provide their supervisor with project updates as required. They generally work full time in an office setting during regular business hours, although specific hours vary depending on the employer.
At least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field is generally required for this position, although some jobs may require or prefer a master's degree in a related field such as informatics or public health as well. Familiarity with common computer software and systems - such as Oracle and Cognos - may be beneficial.
