Manufacturing team leaders are the link between their teams and their companies' higher echelons of management. They must be able to use both their data analysis and first hand knowledge of their production team in order to do their job expertly. Management will often be counting on them to help identify trends and improve their products before they get to the customer. While working on a given project, manufacturing team leaders usually have access to statistical data that can help them perceive potential problems quickly.
Manufacturing team leaders may also handle everything from massive pieces of machinery to tiny, highly specialized tools. Most companies require their manufacturing team leaders to have a fair amount of work experience in their given manufacturing field.
