A senior energy consultant performs a variety of tasks that impact their company's or client's profitability and market presence. This consultant often works with energy companies' marketing, sales, and acquisition departments to explore new market opportunities. Aside from marketing, a senior energy consultant may work with the operations department of a company to improve production. The senior energy consultant must be well versed in new techniques and technologies that could improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Once potential changes are identified, the consultant advocates for the change and seeks authorization to implement it. Upon receiving authorization, the senior energy consultant acts as a project manager to design a project plan, delegate tasks to relevant junior team members, monitor progress, and ensure deadlines are met. After the tasks have been completed, staff members' work is integrated into a complete solution that is tested and tweaked until desired results are achieved.
