Health and Safety Manager Reviews

Q: What is it like working as a Health and Safety Manager?

Health and Safety Manager in Christchurch:
"Challenging but Rewarding."
Pros: I like working WITH people and FOR people. Looking after the wellbeing of others is a rewarding vocation. I also like learning so the steep learning curve of constant change and new challenges keeps me interested. I also like working with data, analysing it and presenting it, which is a critical part of this role.
Cons: Sometimes the challenge seems insurmountable as it requires a huge culture change people are very stuck in their ways. Unfortunatley this can lead to anger and a combative or defensive attitude which can be hard to deal with. Many people do not value safety, and because it spreads across the departments, sometimes I can feel a bit isolated or like I don't fit.
