Job Description for Assistant Management Accountant

Assistant management accountants work with upper-level financial controllers to oversee management accounts. Their duties include assisting with the balancing of sales and purchase ledgers on a daily, monthly, and annual basis. They also calculate the margin and margin percentages of sales and provide insight as to future cash flow, which helps executives make appropriate budgetary decisions. Assistant management accountants perform their duties in conjunction with credit controllers, financial accountants, and accounts payable managers. These accountants are often employed as in-house members of universities and corporations or as contractors for independent firms. Assistant management accountants typically deal with the accounts of their employer's firm and do not take on other clients. Most assistant management accountant positions are full time, but some firms may bring on part-time employees to assist with the workload.
