Job Description for Colorist
Colorists work primarily at beauty parlors and hair salons to color customers’ hair and sell hair care products. Many employers require colorists to be familiar with a variety of hair coloring products, and other duties include keeping the work area clean, administrative work, operating cash registers, answering phone calls, and greeting customers. Because they work directly with customers, strong interpersonal and communication skills are important in this position, and they must be able to stand for long periods of time. They should also be flexible, as some may work on weekends, evenings, or rotating shifts, and they should be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
