Job Description for Finance Intern
Finance interns are generally university students looking to gain real-world experience through a time-limited internship in finance. Their internship may take place at a wide variety of companies, ranging from accounting agencies to investment advisers to banks; other large corporations that handle finances internally may also have finance interns. As with any internship program, finance interns generally come to the company with little direct experience in the field. Their role generally starts with smaller tasks as they assist qualified employees and learn about the protocols and methods used at the company. In addition, many positions will also require interns to participate in company orientations, training sessions, and seminars.Read More...
Applicants for finance internships are expected to have academic knowledge of the industry, and hands-on experience will allow them to apply this more effectively to real-world applications. As the candidate learns more, they may take on more advanced roles and function in a semi-independent manner during their internship.
It is generally required that applicants for finance internships are currently studying in an undergraduate program. Many positions also have a grade point average (GPA) requirement, with the most common being a minimum of a 3.0 average. A strong interest in learning about the financial industry is required as well. Finance interns generally work in an office environment during regular business hours; no major physical requirements or hazards generally exist for these positions. (Copyright 2019 PayScale.com)
