Job Description for Stock Clerk

Stock clerks are typically employed by large supermarkets and grocery stores, although “big box” retailers and warehouse club-style stores may also employ them. These clerks split their time between the storage section of the store and the sales floor, helping move goods from stock and warehouse areas to empty sales space. The stock clerk is expected to work in an organized manner, following store procedures to move and stock goods. In a grocery store setting, part of the stock clerk's work involves ensuring that perishable items are stocked in a way that allows items to maintain proper temperature and meet shelf-life requirements.
