Job Description for Stock Handler

This job may require the use of a forklift, so relevant certification may be required by some employers, while others provide on-the-job training for forklifts. When orders are received, the stock handler will obtain the merchandise and pack it in a manner that will avoid damage in its trip to its final destination. Merchandise should be inspected when it is received and sent out from the facility in order to maintain high standards of quality, and inventory duties are necessary to ensure that all items are accounted for and low stock can be replenished.
A high school diploma is often a minimum requirement for this position. Because the work requires handling of various products and materials, the ability to lift 50 pounds or more is also necessary. This job requires some teamwork skills, but it's also important to be able to work independently. There are both experienced and entry-level positions for stock handlers.
