Job Description for System Support Administrator

System administrators install, operate, and maintain hardware and software for an organization's computer system. They typically maintain existing systems, which involves installing new applications and hardware to keep the system current and working efficiently. On a daily basis, system administrators perform scheduled backups, archive files, change user privileges, or repair software and hardware malfunctions. They troubleshoot any problems that arise, responding to calls and emails from users that are experiencing difficulties. Periodic audits of the system need to be conducted a part of the job, as well as the application of patches and upgrades. Additionally, systems administrators maintain the system's security to protect data, hardware, and software from outside attacks.
