IT Business Analysts rake in the most money, with average earnings of $84K per year; Operations Managers come in second with average earnings amounting to approximately $78K, while Music Directors and Social Media Managers rank near the top as well (around $67K and about $62K, respectively). News Reporters are among the lowest paid at a median salary of approximately $45K.
When it comes to location, the highest average paycheck (about $76K annually) can be spotted in New York, N.Y.; Los Angeles, Calif. ($60K), Dallas, Texas ($55K), and San Francisco, Calif. ($52K) are the next top-paying cities. Approaching the lower end of the pay scale (at around $37K) is Miami, Fla. The highest pay by state can be found in New York, where salaries average out at $73K per year.
Certifications and Degrees
Those lacking certification bring in much lower salaries than Business Certificate Holders, who make $160K annually. Becoming a Cisco Certified Network Associate can certainly pay off here; those folks make about $120K on average. The highest-paying degree here is a Master of Science (MS); CBS Corporation awards approximately $132K to these degree-holders.
When it comes to skills, employees who report Operations Management among their abilities seem to make the most, reporting a median income of around $78K per year. Video Editing also popped up often in the survey as an important skill; close to one-sixth of employees surveyed report using it at work. Project Management, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Office are also desirable skills.
Benefits and Perks
Paid time off is hard to come by at CBS Corporation; the company rewards only 28 percent with paid vacation time and only a fifth of respondents with sick leave.
