Residents of Portland, Ore. pick up paychecks that are higher than any other city — the median salary is $67K per year; other top-paying cities include Seattle, Wash. ($62K) and Spokane, Wash. ($56K). Pay rates in the United States are highest in the state of Oregon, where they average to approximately $67K annually.

Certifications and Degrees

Salaries approach around $66K per year for Certified Professional Engineers; non-accredited workers make much less. On average, salaries rise to about $64K annually for accredited Professional Engineer License Holders. DCI Engineers compensates Bachelor of Science in Bachelor of Science (BS / BSc)-holders the most at around $65K per year.
