Primary Care Registered Nurse (RN)s rake in the most money, with average earnings of about $53.87 per hour; Emergency Room Registered Nurses come in second with average earnings amounting to $44.80, while Registered Nurses and Staff Nurses rank near the top as well ($44.47 and $44.02, respectively). Dignity Health hands out some of the smallest paychecks to Medical Assistants (around $18.33 on average).

Years of Experience

For those who claim five to nine years of work experience, pay on average amounts to approximately $25.35 per hour. The largest slice of the Dignity Health workforce (28 percent) has been working for one to four years and earns, on average, $26.16 per hour.


When it comes to location, the highest average paycheck (approximately $37.77 per hour) can be spotted in Las Vegas, Nev.; Los Angeles, Calif. (about $37.00), Gilbert, Ariz. ($32.96), and Bakersfield, Calif. ($28.41) are the next top-paying cities. Sacramento, Calif. is near the bottom for pay at around $26.42. The highest pay by state can be found in Nevada, where pay average out at about $34.81 per hour.

Certifications and Degrees

Neonatal Resuscitation Program Participants are compensated at a much higher rate than non-authorized workers, bringing in close to approximately $51.80 per hour. Employees who have an Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) make the most here, hauling in $62.09 per hour.


The highest-paying skill to have may be Emergency Room; employees who claim proficiency also report a higher average salary of around $47.87 per hour. A common skill in Dignity Health's work force is Customer Service; about one in eight of survey participants report using it on the job. Some other standard skills here are Acute Care, Electronic Medical Records, and Telemetry.

Only 22 percent receive paid vacation and sick leave. With an eye toward the future, Dignity Health offers several choices in retirement planning such as a 403(b) plan, a 401(k) plan, and a company pension plan.
