Geneva is a city in Fillmore County, Nebraska, United States. The population was 2,217 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Fillmore County. Geneva was founded in 1871. It was named after Geneva, in Switzerland, perhaps via Geneva, New York. Geneva is located at 40°31′35″N 97°36′7″W (40.526288, -97.601885). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.04 square miles (5.28 km2), all land. The city serves as the Fillmore County seat and is home to the historic Fillmore County Courthouse. This two-story brick building was built in 1894 and has a prominent three-story clock tower which was installed by jeweler W.P. McCall in 1909. The courthouse underwent a multimillion-dollar restoration and conservation project and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
