Kempner is a city in Lampasas County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,206 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area. Former State Representative Suzanna Hupp lives in Kempner with her family. She was a survivor of the infamous Luby's shooting of 1991 in Killeen. Kempner is located at 31°4′39″N 97°58′57″W (31.077512, -97.982610). According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 2.2 square miles (5.7 km2), all of it land. As of the census of 2000, there were 1,004 people, 351 households, and 272 families residing in the city. The population density was 450.3 people per square mile (173.8/km²).
