Knowledge of these machines and the ability to carry out electric work are important, as some positions require technologists to be able to repair machines when they are malfunctioning. The use of machines such as drills, mills, grinders, and power tools may be required in order to finish certain products. Some mathematical skills are needed to properly measure components for jobs, and welding skills may also be beneficial.
Some positions require a minimum of a high school diploma, while others require some college education. The position may be carried out in a noisy, factory environment, so employees should not be sensitive to loud sounds.
