Job Description for Cardiothoracic Physician Assistant

Cardiothoracic physician assistants work alongside cardiothoracic doctors and focus on patient contact and care. Responsibilities include caring for patients before, during, and after surgical procedures and may also develop and institute a treatment plan, formulate a diagnosis, order and perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and monitor the plan's success. Prior to any procedures, the assistant must explain them to patients and answer any questions they may have, and these assistants also perform routine pre-operative tests necessary for surgery.
